At the age of 17 a young Roman Lutak was introduced to martial arts by his best friend, George Szeparowycz. George invited Roman to watch them work out. He would have gotten involved with martial arts then, but he was leaving for college with an interest in playing college Soccer. In college he spent a semester learning Thai boxing working out with a fellow college student. In 1982 at the age of 28 while running a business in downtown NYC, he met Master Zulu who invited him to continue his martial arts training. Being a sportsman at heart, and having a interest in martial arts since the age of 17, he gladly accepted a new physical challenge. Kyoshi Lutak began training with Grand Master Zulu in 1982 at the Kaplan Boys Home on St. Marks Place in NYC. As a dedicated student, Kyoshi Lutak learned very quickly and soon became a capable martial artist and a talented instructor. In 1993 Sensei Lutak accepted Grandmaster Zulu's offer to become the Chief Instructor of dojo at the McBurney YMCA. With 15 years of solid martial arts training under the legendary Grandmaster Zulu, Sensei Lutak set about the task of training a rapidly growing body of dedicated students. With many years of training and teaching experience in NYC, Kyoshi Lutak began to develop relationships both domestically and abroad. He has hosted numerous seminars both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. He was named Self Defense Instructor of Year 2002 by The World Head of Family Sokeship Council International Hall of Fame in Orlando, Fl. |
